I had no idea ...

Flight attendants don't get paid until the plane door closes
Flight attendants are paid for the duration of a flight only, according to one cabin crew member. "We are not paid during boarding or until the door to the aircraft is shut. This means it's mandatory to show up to work about 2 hours early but not be paid for it," the anonymous user wrote in a Quora post that was upvoted by a retired US Air Force pilot.

"We can work a 13-hour day and only be paid 5," the post reads. "Some of us end up with crappy trips where it is 5 flights all about an hour long each. So while we are boarding, deplaning, etc all of that is unpaid since that aircraft door is technically open. If you add in delays, that's an even longer day all without pay."

Yah seems correct its just like bus drivers :ehh:

But flight attendants get to travel the world, get to stay on hotels and really only work like 30 minutes anyways on q four hour flight

What do you mean? In NJ or ...

There was a poster on here that is a flight attendant...I think he was from NY, he seemed to really like it

I'm considering it, it'd just be a transfer in-company for me.

And yeah, it sucks that they only get paid for fight hours but they start off (at my company) at $25 and top out at $52. Plus they have really flexible schedules. My friend only works maybe 15 days a month.

Ex is a flight attendant, shyt is true and even worse for new hires. Her first year working she was making literally nothing because new hires are basically on -call and rarely fly so they don't get paid hardly anything. There were multiple times I thought of asking her to pull the plug because we were only living off of one income.

Since I work from home, I would tag along on her work trips just so we could spend more time together... The amounts of fukkery that her friends would get into:
  1. One was a stripper and would regularly fly to Abu Dhabi for "fun." She was getting CAKE. One day, she dropped us off at home in her benz and told us she wasn't going back to work no more cuz it was a waste of her time.:francis:
  2. They really do just fly around, get drunk, and fukk each other. They usually meet up in the hotel after the last leg of the trip, hit the bar and then pair off. I don't wanna even think if I shared that girl.:mjcry:
  3. The gay dudes she worked with were extra aggressive over the top. They stayed with drama too. All of them had smashed all the others, was always some last minute "can you switch with me, I wanna fukk/avoid so-and-so."

The best part tho is that when she wasn't working we could fly anywhere for damn-near free. I've been all over the world as a result. It changed my whole outlook on live and I've been living out of a suitcase traveling the world ever since. Its worth whatever bullshyt they pay you just for that.

That's pretty interesting. Yeah, and dude works for Delta so he's taking international trips. I work for a domestic airline, albeit the biggest one.

Delta FAs have to start out on ready reserve usually. Hell, even their ramp agents. My homie is on the ramp at Delta and his hours were capped yearly. He was ready reserve for like 5 years before getting full time.

I was FT straight out of training.
