****It's been a while since I've done this last, so I'm sure I'm forgetting details, but this should get you started****

In Chrome, right-click the page and go to Inspect. A little console will pop up. Go over to the Network tab, and you'll see a video file in the list that pops up (if you don't see anything, hit F5 to refresh). Copy the link, open VLC, click Media, select Open Network Stream, paste the URL, and you're good to go. Otherwise, there are a ton of guides and programs and sites that'll try to do it for you.

That should work for most sites. It's probably not going to work on any legit sites since they intentionally hide their stuff, though.

If you want to watch these streams on TV, and you have a Roku, create an account at instanttvchannel.com. Once you do that, a channel should already be created for you. From there, just go to Content. Right click on the folder for the channel and select New Video or Audio. Make sure "Live" is set to True, plug in the URL, and select hls for "StreamFormat" (I think you do this regardless of what the actual stream file is, if it's a live stream). Everything autosaves as you work on it. Then go back to Channels, click the icon that looks like a package, and download the file.

Now, create a Roku Developer account at developer.roku.com. Log in, select Manage My Channels, then Add Private Channel. I think you have to add thumbnails for your channel, and they have to be specific sizes. Just find something on Google and resize it in Paint. From there I think all you have to do is upload the package file that you've downloaded, save, and update your Roku.

Again, I know I'm forgetting something, but I'm sure if anyone has any questions it'll jog my memory so go ahead and ask. Also, just get the Network. Even if you're a casual fan. Just do it.
