Some men want their wives to be stay at home moms.and they should get it (same with stay at home dads). Don't ask your wife/husband to be a stay at home parent if you don't want to pay alimony. Also like @CrimsonTider said, people getting alimony is rare. I don't know why it's so talked about because most people don't have to pay it.
You should not get any benefits of the relationship once the relationship has ended.
