I was a huge fan of Nu-Metal in HS. Still bump it when I hit the gym. Anyone else?

Nu-Metal was a subgenre of heavy metal that emerged in the mid-1990s and gained popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It combined elements of heavy metal, rap, and alternative rock, with bands such as Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Linkin Park being among the most well-known representatives of the genre.

The impact of Nu-Metal was significant in several ways. First, it brought heavy metal music to a new audience that had previously been more interested in alternative rock and hip-hop. This crossover appeal helped to broaden the genre's fan base and introduce heavy metal to a wider audience.

Second, Nu-Metal influenced the sound of mainstream rock music in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Many bands that emerged during this time were heavily influenced by Nu-Metal, adopting its heavy, downtuned guitars, and rap-influenced vocal style. This sound was particularly prevalent in the United States, where bands like Papa Roach and P.O.D. gained popularity.

Finally, Nu-Metal had a significant impact on the fashion and culture of the time. The genre's fans often adopted a particular style of dress, characterized by baggy clothes, chains, and tattoos. This style was adopted by many young people in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and it has continued to influence fashion and culture to this day.
