macbook hd is possibly done, unless there’s a way to clone from boot using terminal

Bought sshdd, what’s the best vetted program you know to get files off of the dead drive?

Do i also gotta reinstall everything?

Sounds like in your case it might be best to get a HD ripper/duplicator off Amazon or something.

Before i buy it, is it like hard drive cloning? Or is it like a bay that just allows me to grab and transfer files between them?

Hard drive cloner would be best imo if its still readable

You can clone the drive with clonezilla.
If you want to salvage specific files use photorec
