So. Cal
i get what you sayin' but you still got your mind and opinion though :russ:
it was dope though but there really wasn't any Internet and a flood of content like nowadays. Everyone in the world that liked hip-hop was bumping this. Even Cacs that never listened to hip-hop was on it because of the Em ft. Trust me if anyone says they weren't fukking with this Album is lying for attention.

I loved "Fucc You", "Light Speed", "Let's Get High" and "Xxplosive" from Day 1.

"Forgot About Dre" grew on me.

I didn't like "Still D.R.E." from jump. I still don't.

I hated "The Next Episode", because I thought it would be "The Next Episode" we all know and love
from the bootleg cassette, but cleaned up. I was thoroughly disappointed when it was not that.
The thing about that is - when you hear that, it puts you in the mind of "Nuthin' But A G Thing" so you
thought it was gonna be a song like that - and it wasn't.

"Ho's A Housewife" was ehh, but I liked the one with the Kurupt beat better.

The Eddie Griffin skit was ill, doe.

"Pause 4 Porno"? No thanks.

I didn't even buy this album.

naw, i hear you. but i remember bein' hype just because then when i heard it bein' like "it's cool but it ain't the chronic"
now of course it could've never been the chronic but still, it just didn't have that magic that the chronic did

When 2001 dropped, production wise, it took a giant shyt on everything in hip hop

There still hasn't been album released since that sounds as clean as that

the production was top notch. no doubt about that. the mixin' and vocal arrangements were on point. not on the level of the chronic but nice nevertheless
the quality of beats though? eh :manny: not horrible but lemme just say i still listen to the chronic waaaaaaaaaaaay more than i do chronic 2001 :ohlawd:

i gave it 4.5/5 at first but looking back its a classic in its own right

it does have its flaws (lack of snoop, too many tracks with hitman, too many skits and a couple of tracks that could've been left off near the end, housewife was already on kurupt's joint)

i actually heard a clip of whats the difference nearly a year before the album dropped and expectations were already high. i thought the final product matched it

I remember the day it came out because Kurupt's 'Tha Streetz Iz A Mutha...' came out the same day and I went to the mall to buy that.

When I got there, they were playing Dr. Dre's '2001', but had sold out of it. I wasn't bothered because I went out to buy Kurupt's CD. 'Still D.R.E.', 'Forgot About Dre', and the other songs I heard on radio didn't really make me wanna have it straight away.

I was looking for another 'Chronic' especially as he had the same team around with a few new worthy additions (Eminem, Xzibit, etc) but felt completely let down once I heard it, especially the 2nd half of it.

Anyway, I still reckon I made the right choice with Kurupt's album because that was a BANGER.

Was fukking with it, everyone I know that liked Hip Hop and even casual fans were. Was huge, production on the album was a big deal and Dre and Snoop brought some great songs. Heard the album everywhere, out of cars, video channels, radio, around people, was massive. Album wasn't perfect but the highlights were really high, it's got a lot of excellent tracks. The sound was big, holds up to me too, a few songs not up to that level but it's a great and memorable album to me. Still play songs from it, it's an album I'll always remember. If Dre dropped another album that standard would be great but looks like that ship may have sailed now.

I fukked with Kurupts Streets is a Mutha album waaaay more then Chronic 2001.

Besides the top notch mastering and songs "The Watcher" "bytch nikkaz" & "Big Egos" thought Dr Dres album was kind of lame.
