If you are a parent, what is that like seeing your child who was once probably a normal sweet kid, now a hardened criminal? What are the psychological effects of that?

If you have a sibling, what is it like seeing your brother/sister who was once probably a normal sweet kid you grew up with, now a criminal? What effects did/does it have on you and your parents?
