Yes I would say start with what you love or like to do as a hobby. First turn that into a digital product and then I would work on turning your area of expertise into a digital product as well, you can use sites like Udemy to monetize your own courses and then sit back and let the instructional videos bring in money.

I have been using a site called Payhip to sell and deliver some of my digital products. I started out making ebooks with an audio version as well as self hypnosis MP3s, uploaded my products on there and even though some of my products were literally treated over 10 years ago they still bring in sales on a regular basis. You should also create your own website to sell your products, with sites like Payhip, they give you a sales button to install on your site and they take care of the rest.

One of the easiest ways to promote your digital products is by creating a Youtube channel all about whatever the subject matter is and post some videos on the topic, all with your product links in them,

There are so many ways you can go with this. I even have products out there generating revenue that, while technically are not digital since they are physical products like clothes, are hands-free for me since I use sites like Cafepress to sell physical goods with designs that I got people on Fiverr to create for me. Once again, it brings in passive income that I do not even promote or put any real effort towards.
