Air Force Vet. Material Management field. Been out a couple years and been doing the school/working thing but it just ain't cutting it for me anymore. Lost my motivation for school and it's showing in my grades. I'm being realistic so I'm not expecting a 60-100K/year job to fall out of the sky just looking for somebody to point me in a better direction to look in. No kids. No wife. So nothing is really holding me from moving for a opportunity but the cost of living in the south can't be beat. Any feedback is appreciated though brehs.

Ey man. Active duty O1. First off, I wanna give you props for going to school. A lot of my enlisted guys have just shrugged off the GI Bill and it's legitimately heart breaking.

Where are you going to school? What are you majoring in? Honestly man, not having a wife/kids puts you in a stronger position than a lots vets because you have a great deal of flexibility. College kinda sucks. It's challenging. You gotta try to study something you love or you will be miserable. If you're school has a Veteran department, get in touch with them.

How old are you? Would you be willing to go back into the military as an officer? There's always ROTC. I'm a ROTC grad, and trust me man, the good prior Es flourish in that program.

Appreciate the reply breh. I go to school at a university in Tennessee. I was majoring in Business but I changed to Sociology. Sociology always something I been interested in but at the same time I'm not sure what I would wanna do with that degree and it's not that much money in it from my research. That's a lot of my problem with school is that I don't really have a end goal with it. I'm considering taking a break this fall and just working. No point in my grades suffering and all that just for me not to be sure of what I wanna do.

I'm 27. Never really considered the thought of going back into the military. I will definitely do some research though.

Yeah man, sociology can be tougher to get a job with, but you know the DoD they just want to see bachelors to commission. Doesn't matter what in 90% of career fields. As a 27 year old you can still become an officer. Look into UM, UT, and Tenn State, they all have AFROTC.

I wouldn't recommend taking a break. Losing your BAH can be a tough hit, and when you leave, its really hard to get back into the swing of it. You go what you gotta, but I think continuing that path to the bachelors degree is always the best option.

Im a USMC vet..got out in 2015 and I worked as a teachers assistant from then until this past March. I couldnt deal with kids throwing chairs and shyt at me anymore for 15K a year, so I resigned. Im waiting for a drug test to get back so I can start at this auto shop, but I've been thinking about working for this guy who does remodeling and construction. As long as im working with my hands, im happy with what im doing.

I got out with a general under honorable discharge and I didnt get the GI bill so IDK what to do about that. I think I may hit up a National Guard recruiter and see if they give waivers for general under honorable discharges.

Yea I was told I would still get it by my VA rep while I was in Oki, but I came home and applied and it got denied. not tripping tho cause I wasnt able to fulfill my end of the contract and I can pay for my auto tech degree with what I make from the shop.

Only thing im really pissed off about is when I came home and applied for disability, it was denied cause the bytch ass doctor said I wasnt taking off of work for the pain at my civilian job so he had to way to tell if I was faking or not. Me being the type of man I am, Im not gonna take off whenever something hurt, especially working in a school environment where nothing physical is going on. I have constant pain in my right knee..i think all the cartilage gone..and a few times every other month my lower back goes out on me and I walked hunched over like im 90 years old. Next time I apply im using one of the services who does it for you
