No not that I know ofIs she on birth control?
Thx for the info, I'll tell her this as wellCould definitely be hormonal. I'm not an expert but I'm really anal about how I treat my skin and stick with natural, homemade remedies. I used to have bad acne and tried all sorts of medication, which I now avoid like a plague. Before she does anything, she should understand the type of skin she has (sensitive/oily/dry, etc.) and knowing what products, methods or foods to utilize for her type of skin. For instance, I have oily skin. Right before my monthly lady friend arrives I tend to break out, so I mix some of the following into a mask:
I regularly do a mixture of avocado (half), honey, strawberry, lemon, & sage. Because I have oily skin, I avoid bananas or egg based facials - again, I emphasize knowing what type of skin you have. These take 5-10 minutes to make, which is probably convenient for her as a mother, and she doesn't have to wear it for more than 10-20 minutes a day. A basic honey/lemon mask is convenient too because it's not too noticeable if she's running errands, etc.
- Bananas (medium sized ripe) - helpful for moisturizing skin
- Strawberries - they have a natural source of salicylic acid which is crucial for the skin
- Onions - they are good as an anti-inflammatory agent for break outs/acne
- Oatmeal - it's great for deep cleansing pores
- Honey
- Lemon - exfoliates and cleans skin (but don't over exfoliate; minimize to a few times a week)
- Vinegar/Apple Cider vinegar (natural toner)
- Egg - good for dry skin, NOT oily skin
Mix these all or any of these with water. Before she puts on a mask, she should boil some water and let her face sit in the steam for a bit to help open up the pores. After she's done with her facials, she should get day time and night time face creams appropriate to her skin type and apply them religiously. Tell her to avoid make up and such for a few weeks while she begins to clear her skin.
Hope that helps.
It worked but only made it worse once she stopped using it at a time.BP works for me (shrugs). It's the only thing that is consistently working. My skin is not drying out however. If it isn't working for her, she knows her body better than me. She should try another derm though. They' have had to have seen hormonal problems before they just sound lazy.
