Just retired from the Army. Served in Bosnia when in first popped off, Saudi, Iraq, and Southern Afghanistan. Pre deployment training gives you a good baseline for what’s to be expected, but actually live combat is no joke. Once you leave your operating base in whatever war zone you’re deployed in, it’s literally life or death. But the odd thing is you become accustomed to it.

No, I've gotta wait until March bc I had surgery in September :snoop:
When you talk to a recruiter make sure you ask about taking the DLAB after you take the ASVAB. The Defense Language Aptitude Battery is the test used to gauge your ability to learn languages. Your score on that test determines which languages you are eligible to learn. Make sure to take that before you contract.

I'm tough I just need to be trained into that position, no one is going to be fit for a job right out the gate, but I'm doing carpentry right now, I like the action and moving and physicality of the job so I think these things align fairly well.
Tough is just a word. It doesn't matter. I saw plenty of people who were hot shyt and high speed be non-selected. The physical aspect of these jobs are the easy part. It really is about intangibles. The type of things you can't be trained to do. You either have it or you don't, and you don't know that until you try.
