Looking for a thread to post this in.
I just got info about an old friend, who's doing time in Cook County right now and it made me realize again how good I have it. When we were kids he was on the Honor Roll, taking AP Classes, even got sent to this Math Camp in the summer where your only selected if a teacher recommends you.
That 11-25 age range is something serious us, I remember visiting family and hearing about how some girls won't talk to you if you're not a member of so and so gang at 13 Y/O
I remember seeing a lot young girls pushing strollers and asking where are the mom's and my dad basically saying you're looking at them
My little ass remembers' seeing young boys, standing outside the house all night, cars pulling up and driving away, it looked like a music video, it looked cool -relatively speaking
When lil wayne/dipset had everyone claiming blood, i remember visiting family and telling my cousin and some guys, that im a blood and he said no we claim GD. i told my bro i'm GD and told me not to play that because it's not a game in the city.
now looking back, I'm thinking if me and bro had the same opportunities, he probably be something crazy like an astronaut or something. The prison/criminal justice system is a different type of beast and even though i forget how good i have it. I'm thankful
