I'll look that shyt up later. But back at SOHH, I posted a bunch of articles in threads talking about compression and how Microsoft has its own compression techniques that can basically compress and still retain lossless audio
The xbox360 uses this technology and you can read about it in its wiki page

But it goes much deeper than just that. Thats all I can remember off top (as in where to find this info)

'lossless' audio is very different than purely lossless tho. audio and video still lose precision but its just not discerning to human ear/eye.
