Thinking of heading to graduate school to grab mine, I graduated with a BBA in MIS a couple years ago, but been working in corporate America for about 5yrs now. I’m still fairly young (25) and I’m sure my job will provide some kind of assistance for the tuition.

my question to those who have one, how beneficial has it been for you? I’m chasing some kind of IT leadership role for reference.

Either go to a top 10-20 school or go to the school that is popular near the company you work at or desire to work at. Seems like everyone in leadership roles or desires a leadership role has a MBA now so value is more important than ever in my opinion (meaning don't overpay if you don't have to)

aint gon lie I slacked off during my undergrad and graduated with. 2.87. However though I know I can get a very high score in the GMAT. May be a little harder to get into a T20 program, but I believe I could get it done.

This is where the value part comes in. Don't stress on the T20 programs especially considering many of them will cause you to go deep in your pockets as most companies may not be able to cover most of the cost of those schools. You aren't looking to be a C-Suite executive for a large company (at least that is what I am gathering) so because of that you have a little more flexibility in choices. When it comes to the MBA today, cost (in my opinion) is one of the most important aspects.

nikka the gmat is hard af. Lol. I got a 700 and that was like the top 0.9% for black people.

The only real benefit of the top programs is the network imo. If you’re not looking for that or a prestigious job it takes a lot of pressure off the school search

Yeah. I went to Kellogg.

Best advice is to find the job you want, see what schools they recruit from, and go there. You may not need to go to a top program or even full time to fulfill your goal.
1. Has the Kellogg MBA helped you in your career?
2. What do you do?
3.How did you choose your career path?
4.What's your advice on choosing a career path but are unsure which path to take?

Standardized testing is all about preparation, in my opinion everyone can get a high score if they study the material thoroughly and understand the wording and structure of the questions. Same with getting a high gpa. Not really a difficult thing to accomplish if you key in on it.

1. Has the Kellogg MBA helped you in your career? Yeah. It got me interviews I wouldn’t have gotten without it. But to be clear, I didn’t need to go to Kellogg to do any of the stuff I’m doing now. I low key think I wasted my career potential by not going after a certain career right out of school. But I chose to move closer to home and chose a career that was still 6 figs but less stress
2. What do you do? Business Development now. But I did a leadership development program at a big company right out of school.
3.How did you choose your career path? I focused on strategy and marketing, two areas I liked. The rest was a matter of timing and circumstance.
4.What's your advice on choosing a career path but are unsure which path to take? Most people don’t know what they want to do. Nothing wrong with that. I’d rule out what you DONT want to do first. I knew I would hate consulting so I never fell into that trap. I did a rotational program to help me figure stuff out. But really the only way to know is to try out stuff. Read the book “Designing Your Life”. It’s pretty good.

Good advice and insight has already been given. You did not ask about where to go, specialization, or tuition so you may have those answers already.

You DID ask how beneficial it has been. Personally, the path enlightened me to things I wish had been covered in undergrad. So it broadens your thinking and outlook.

Translating that enlightenment into a promotion or a new job is a different challenge. You still have to deal with the same barriers we face as a people....but you will have the confidence to explore bigger opportunities, use your enhanced knowledge in your current role, or start your own situation.

Yea man, I gotta start studying again for the GMAT. I need like 750 to make up for a low UG GPA. With WFH I have 2 hrs of commute saved every day so I really gotta knock this thing out before we return to the office.

I just detest that exam :francis:
