She wasn't the nicest person when I was younger.
She tries to be extra nice to me now but I'm not really having any of it.
I'm cordial with her but that's as far as it goes.

an old friend of mine, has a great relationship with stepfather and considers his stepfather as his own dad, as his stepfather raised him since he was like maybe 6 years old. his real/biological dad abandoned him and was a junkie brehs.

Damn, aren't any of your parents still together??? Anyway, no I don't have a good relationship with either of my parents. Growing up was difficult for me, as I was often isolated from other black people (besides my cousins). My father was abusive physically, and verbally. He had a bad temper, and would occasionally send me to school with bruises, and a fat lip. This prompted teachers to take me aside, and question me about it. I would lie. I'm still dealing with the verbal abuse though. I have depression, and low self esteem because of the way my father treated me. My mother is pretty empty and soulless. She has no personality outside of worshiping her husband. Oh well...
