Anybody here do stand up comedy?

Anyone have any tips for a guy looking to get into it? I think im a naturally funny guy, but never put together any kind of set or anything..I have a few ideas, Im gonna try to put something together and see what happens. Anyone got any experieces they can share that would help?

Go to a couple of open mics in your area and sign up. A lot of open mics are a bunch of standup comics trying material, so they're more forgiving.

My advice is to not look like you're trying to tell a joke. it should come across as natural and almost like a conversation. I think 90% of stand up is in the delivery and set up. 10 people can say the same chris rock joke, but 90% of them will come out corny cuz they dont have the right delivery. But getting to that level takes years of practice. All the greats like pryor, murphy, chris rock, ect spent years in small clubs and talent shows before they got good.

yeah i do and @LBJ does too, the only advice i can give you at this point is to look up open mics in your area and sign up for them and go and try it. you will know really quickly whether it is something you want to do or not.

went out and tried some all new ish. gotta lotta fine tuning to do but i think i found an entrance to a really solid bit. at that feeling of finding your voice.

didn't drink before the set either, met some nice ladies who might leave their mans, and got all my drinks for free.

be comics, brehs.
