Anybody here ever been sent to alternative school?

I got sent to one my freshman year from may to november for hitting a teacher.

My first day there i was like

It was fulled up at the time so i had to be grouped with the pre-explusion kids and

I remember we had this bad ass latina who subbed for us during lunch, she had to be like 22 or something. One the kids started buggin her so she got mad and started trying to discipline him. Big mistake, the homie started sexual harrasing her(verbally) something serious. Tellin her shyt like "yea bytch we gone run a train" and "you gone succ this dicc today" and all kinds of shyt for liek 5 mins til our teacher came back. She ran out the class

Seeing all the hooligans from different cliques from different schools around the city all in the same class was
nikkas used to be wildin out..

I miss them times

They threatened me a couple of times but it sounds a lot like when there would be assemblys and shyt they would make all the worst kids in school stay in a room together because we werent allowed to go the fukkery was amazing

. i got sent to one cause i got pregnant my alternative school had a daycare in it & it was just like Season 4 of The Wire.

Ended up being my favorite school i've ever been too teachers truly cared & it was fukkery all the times in the classes lls.

Bump. I'm watching Nardwuar interview Andre 3000 and he said he went to an alternative school I woulda never imagined. My cousin spent a GOOD ASS minute at one and he was bad as hell. He made it sound like prison-- guess they got him accustomed to his future


I'm curious to hear more experiences tho

Yeah, and it was 1 foot out of the prison system. Definitely learned how to deal with wolves for the short time I was in there

I saw that Dre interview and the alternative school comment stood out to me too.

I had a hard time paying attention in class and was barely scraping by. I’ve always been “smart” but I didn’t have the patience to sit there and listen to teachers.

In 10th grade, I found out that alternative school was self paced, and teachers were just there to give help when needed. I begged my parents to go but they would not let me because it’s where the wild kids went to school.

By the time I was in 12th grade, I was 3 semesters behind and was not going to graduate. So my folks finally let me go.

I went from a D / F student, to completing 3 semesters worth of classes in 4 months…. And getting all A’s at that.

I figure if I was in the same boat in 2024, my parents would just let me go to school online. We just didn’t have that option 25 years ago.

First was Juvie shyt so it really wasn’t an alternative school.. we just went to classes there and did shyt.

I was in elementary though. Never really told anyone this and the only people that know are the family members over 30

Second time I just dropped out. I was on pace to graduate early in one state ( was supposed to graduate right before 11th grade… I was living with my mom) . Then she got a job in a different state where I went from being on pace to graduate early to being put back a grade due to state course requirements…

After a year of that, I just stopped showing up. I had 2 jobs and just worked… sometimes I would show up and get sent to ISS for like a week where I would just finish all the work that piled up then go missing again for weeks.

Rough times.. moms couldn’t do shyt but I always had a job and put in money so she didn’t say shyt.

Eventually, we looked into an alternative school for reasons others mentioned above. Thats the school where Usher and them were at in Atlanta. I heard it was where all the “bad” kids in the city went and I guess it was but I knew a lot more nikkas there than my real school and had more fun too


Mom moved again further south, I dropped out due to the school no longer being in my district, said “fukk school then” and I worked odd jobs until I decided to move to Florida by myself, tested out of HS, and got some certs.

I did for like a month and a half during my junior year of high school. My mom's then boyfriend was beating her and one of my female cousins who was staying with us for a while. He was big like the wrestler Ahmed Johnson, and I was a skinny teenager. I tried to fight him, but he was whooping my ass so I grabbed a knife and nearly killed him. Stabbed him like 7 times in his neck and chest. I got arrested and spent a few hours in jail before my mom and her ex-husband(my stepdad) bailed me out. The charges were dropped against me.

About a week after the incident, I was pulled out of school and sent to alternative school because "I was deemed a threat to the other students" due to the nature of my arrest. It wasn't that bad, and it was only for like two months.
