Pittsburgh is great to visit, for a day or two. Before I moved back here I would get off the plane when coming to visit, and by that night I'd be ready to go back to where I came from (Charlotte,ATL, or San Antonio). My dumb ass moved back but once I'm gone next time, never again

When Club Laga was open back in the day it mostly had WU-Tang affiliates and indie heads from Def Jux like EL-P, Mr. Lif, Aesop Rock, Cage, Camu Tao, Copywrite playing there...Pittsburgh has been moreso about indie rappers and indie hip-hop.

Club Laga on fri night :banderas: That club kept us fed with chicks when i was out there..never knew about indie shows..when i was out there it was just a hip hop club on a fri night

AVA didn't close, just moved down to oakland and is now combined with the Quiet Storm across the street from chief's. i haven't been since it moved but i lived around the corner for years and met my girl there :ld: justin strong is still doing good stuff for the community, they just had a shytty landlord. AVA and shadow were great venues.

Rip Oakland though. When the attic, upstage, and laga closed it truly was the end of an era.

I remember the last 80s night at the upstage. There was a line around the block to get in...and I didn't leave until 3:20 at night. The bar literally was serving people free drinks to empty out all the bottles...me and my boys lit up some joints In the club just cause. The last song was tears for fears" "everybody wants to rule the world". That was it for the old oakland. Like the new era of Pitt kids don't even understand how wild oakland was back in the day...8 clubs on forbes...mad bars..bouvers, telaropa, brave new world, hypervinyl....seeing crust punks, ravers, and squatters all around. Grabbing a bite to eat at eat n park on forbes....graffiti writers and skaters everywhere. When Pitt wasn't all skate stopped up...it's not the same anymore. It so vanilla and boring now. Even the kids in the area are so boring and plain now...no personality, no flavor, no style. It's like a bland chip.

I miss the 90s era of pittsburgh...When it felt like a real city.

Horrible city, no diversity, tokenism is the wave out here in relation to the corporate world, food is horrible, the people are passive-aggressive racist, the city in general is very old, the clubs are horrible and play mostly shytty house music. The Black middle class is supersmall and its always seems like they decided to not have kids between 1985-1993 because there are very few local middle class black kids here in that age range, shyt is just weird and I can't explain it. I mean New Orleans has a small young black middle class community, but that is because they al move away to ATL, in Pittsburgh it seems like they simply do not exist.

I hate this city, I plan on bouncing as soon as my last exam is done fukk going to graduation. The only people who like this place come from smaller cities that are usually even worse.
