If you're just starting you shouldn't because the game is different now. Back in the day you could walk into a store that was all about trading cards and memorabilia, but with the internet and mass production it's not what it was before.

Side note: I wish I still had all the cards I had at one time, Piazza, Karros, Griffey rookie cards, Jordan baseball card, etc. I had so many fukkin cards it was crazy, but when we moved from the West coast to the East coast we had time sacrafivw some things and that was one of the things my Momma was :camby: to

what about cam newton and steph curry rookie cards.

Cards don't become worth anything really until the players are further in their careers. I remember back when I had the Griffey rookie card and it was only worth like 25 dollars, I bet if you checked now it would probably be worth a couple hundred now but that still ain't shyt really. Its something that takes generations to be worth it.

If my grandfather was into it and left me a Babe Ruth rookie card or some shyt that was left from HIS FATHER then I'd be set. If I still had the cards I had, I'd be sitting on them just to give to my kids when they got older and have them hand them down to their kids...and then they would start being worth something.

Its a combination of things

Player has to obviously be good, the better players get lesser cards available.

Availability of said card. Like I said better players have lesser cards produced by then you have to see how many are actually out there. If my 12 year old son collected cards he wouldn't take care of them so if he has a Cam Newton rookie card it would he worth less because

Quality. A well maintained card with no scratches, dings, bent edges is going to be worth more than a card that has a bent edge. Simple imperfections take away value.

Sports doesn't really matter but people are unaware of there being cards for college players and golf stars etc.

Also you have something called error cards. It could be simply that a Jordan card has Jordan listed at being 5'2 instead of his real height or the number on the back of the card saying 22 when his Jersey is actually 23 or saying that he hit 59% of his free throws when he actually hit 95%. These cards are EXTREMEMLY valuable out the package because they are truly one of a kind.

I don't collect any more But in sure it's basically the same as it used to be. It depends on the card. Some rookie cards might only be worth a couple of dollars and some may be worth a nice chunk of change, depends on the set, the rarity of the card, the demand of the player, lots of variables.

Good cards today cost hundreds of dollars. They all got a piece of jersey and a autograph and cost a couple hundred for a pack.

You can get a Cam Newton rookie card but it would run you close to $3,000.It's a whole new game.

Breh...just cop Madden or 2k and Play Madden Ultimate Team or MY Team 2k...

Atleast you can play... Colecting cards is a scam.

It's hot potato. Once you have a rare card, you realize, oh shyt, this really isn't worth shyt. Then you do everything you can to recoup money you spent and sell it to the next sucker.
