I just graduated from the University of Florida in December and this job hunt is getting really irritating.

Considering pursuing a job teaching English somewhere outside of America for a few years. I need a change of scenery and some new challenges.

Anybody with experience on here that can inform me how to go about it, what steps to take, advice, etc?

Do I need this TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) certification?

I was browsing teachabroad.com today after seeing a flyer at my school.

I have at least 3 friends doing it in Thailand, China, and Japan. (My friend in China is apparently living with Raz B from B2K :russ:) they seem to love it.

do it, have an adventure. but barely a 3 month job search?
Well technically it's been since last August. I didn't work for my last semester of school to finish strong and apply to career jobs. One of my old internships wanted me back and flew me out to the West Coast to interview but politics got in the way mixed with not enough in the budget for a position for me so that fell thru right before graduation in December. Ever since then I really hit the ground looking and have done a million interviews and it always ends the same.

In the 2nd stage of an interview process with one company right now so hopefully I can get thru that and waiting on some government jobs I applied to to process all my documents to see how that turns out.

I got a tefl from oxford seminars and everything I saw from the company seemed fine, they'll also help place you to teach somewhere but not all the red tape so you'll want to be pretty determined and savvy if the school isn't helping you but I'd imagine that's rare.
Most people from my class got jobs and were teaching abroad soon as the course was over. I know a lot of people who've taught abroad and have really enjoyed it. It'a one of those things you can do if you don't have a lot of responsibilities. Op, so if you're thinking the time is now go for it.
