ive had the base + 3 wireless bulb system since last fall and its cool. have one in my living room, one in the kitchen and one in my bedroom. might get one more for a hallway, but ive got pretty much the perfect balance of regular lighting and the hue system. they just released a bloom light & light strips. overpriced imo, but I gotta say the new geotagging & IFTT enabled functioning (i.e. blinking when it rains, turning on and off depending on proximity to you house, time lights to wake you up mimicking a sunrise, and flashing blue & orange every time the mets score a run, music sync) the shyt is pretty cool. not to mention, when I work late, I can just turn my lights on and discourage mofos that might wanna try some shyt.

price is an issue, but as an owner of regular light strips to "ambify" my tv, its just really convenient to hit an app and have it work.

I'm about to go to Best Buy and get the Hue Lux starter kit for $55. They're the non-color changing version. It only comes with two bulbs so I'll buy 2 more. They cost $20 a piece at Home Depot. I don't need the colors so it makes more sense to me.

Aren't there light bulbs that screw straight in that you can control from your phone now?
yeah I can control them from my phone just fine but trying to connect them to my Harmony Elite remotes has been a disaster. I have 2 Harmony Elites one for the bedroom and one for the living room and when syncing them to the Hue hub the Harmony for the Living Room got overridden by the bedroom one so now both say bedroom. Also neither is actually controlling any of the lights.

i've had them pretty much since they came out. i have the hue tap, which is the 4 button physical switch for them.

i have a harmony but never tried to set them up to work with it. doesn't sound like i'll be trying it either.

Got it all working. I bought the Hue Lux starter kit and an extra Hue Lux bulb and also three Cree Connected bulbs. Cost about $120 all together for the hub and 6 lights. I should really swap out that extra Hue for another Cree but it'll only save me $5 bucks so I probably won't bother. The only Lights I use that aren't WiFi connected are in the bathroom now.

It's a nice system the dog will appreciate it now that it gets dark early I can set a timer to keep lights on for her when I'm not home. It'll also be nice to be lying in bed and not have to get out of bed to turn the lights on right quick so I can see something.

It is awkward not turning on or off the lights with a normal switch and instead using a phone / tablet app or my TV remote. When I get a house I'll wire the switches and get a Nest as well.

You need the Harmony Home version. My issues were having two remotes and two Harmony hubs.
