lately i had 2 disk drives (1TB+2TB HDD) die on me... i have more backups but ive been wanting to free up some disk space... so i decided to start burning dvd and blu-ray discs. ive had a burner for years but never really felt inclined to use it.

i picked up a samsung blu-ray player for 6.99 at the thrift store lol. i got 50 BD-R and 100 DVD-R for about 65 bucks all together. thats a ton of storage! i picked up a giant CD binder (you mighta had one in your car back in the day :mjlol:) that can hold 100 discs

so here i am converting the files. im about to burn for the first time. shyt is fun honestly :yeshrug:

obviously i shoulda done this like 15-20 years ago and sold them :pachaha:

but it'll be nice getting a terabyte of local storage back for sure.

anybody else do this?

Not much, but I recently burned a copy of Project 4k77 (Amateur 35mm film scan of Star Wars) for a buddy of mine who's a big Star Wars fan. Prior to that I ripped and burned copies of some old VIZ anime DVDs when I found out the original discs were worth $700 on the used market. I'm struggling to store all the store bought stuff I already own, I'm not looking to store duplicate stuff.

Once I find more amateur 35mm scans of movies I actually like, I will be burning those. Project 4K77 is pretty dope if you are a Star Wars fan. The official 4k release is like looking through a blue gel filter. Its sickening.
