I messed up the bumper of my Accord and it would probably cost $300-400 to get it fixed in the shop.

got the paint code and looked online and I can probably do it myself for about $60 for paint plus supplies. :ld:

anybody done this?
any tips?
airbrush kit or spray gun?

Most auto paints supply stores can mix you an aerosol can of single stage touch up paint but honestly you better remove the bumper and just redo the whole bumper if you want good results..its hard to blend spay paint into a factory finish at least if you take off the bumper the differences wont be noticeable..do it like

Aerosol makes more sense for a single part or a small area but If you really wanna break out the spray gun might as well do the whole car

:why: take off the bumper? It's a 10 yr old accord, I don't need it to look new.

I'm thinking I'll just tape a section off and paint that? sound good? :manny:

Masking tape should work :yeshrug: If you really wanna minimize cost and effort ask for single stage MTK..you wont need a topcoat just spray and polish and it costs around $25 for a can.

Plastidip aint crazy like that, cause if you fukk up(you cant really), you can always peel it off.

Yes and no. You'll want to prep the surface properly so the paint will stick. That's relatively easy.
But since you are doing it in a non-bodyshop environment, you need to wait for the proper weather conditions, temperature and humidity, no rain or snow. And if you don't have a garage and it's windy, overspray is a problem and not being able to lay down a steady spray is going to turn out bad. And you'll want to lay down more than one coat so there's that too.

^^^^ this and after it dries you might wanna get some 1500 wet/dry sandpaper and sand it afterward. just get a water bottle and pour water over the area and sand, or dip the sand paper in water as u sanding. that way it wont be just glossy like u painted just the bumper, plus if there are any runs or orange peel from when you painted it, it wont be as noticeable. i work pt at a body shop, when the need arises. you should also wet the ground, so the spray wont kick up dust and get in ur paint, lots of ppl forget that when they try and paint in they garages.
