You staying on the beach. Lots of white people in Jaco, most from Europe and Canada.
Things more expensive in Jaco too, but live much slower out there. You should have fun, all the big hotels do wild pool parties, gonna be hard as hell for you to find a loco girl who is not working in Jaco, if you going without a girl.
Edit: I see you are female. It's gonna be hard as hell to keep the local men and the European sex tourists off you. You will have fun though. I dont love the food in costa rica, nothing really sticks out.

That's exactly what's there sadly, fish and prostitues. You can still enjoy the beach and the nightlife can be fun when it is
crowded and if you like drinking, but it is almost strictly prostitution male getway spot.
unless you plan to gamble heavy and drink heavy on the beach, you gonna be a little bored.

Yeah few years ago to Nosara. Beach / surfing / etc, but was quiet otherwise. Tourists not really about that night life so getting plugged into locals is what a lot of people did.
