Worse time to go. You should wait until mid-January or possibly right after Thanksgiving.
I know it's not ideal, I just don't see me being able to take off enough time needed before or after as much as I've been working lately. My job gives us 2 weeks off end of the year every year.

This. I’ll add that traveling to most of the African continent during the festive period of December is both the best and worst time to go.

Best time because that’s usually when the diaspora goes back. A lot of events, parties, festivals etc and generally spots are buzzing. This is the case especially for countries that have a large, global diaspora eg Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya.

Worst time mainly because of the cost. Cape Town will get most of its international traffic that period so the cost of everything will go up. Villas, attractions, Airbnbs all of it.

For SA, I like going during bumper seasons. So mid January through April and/or end of August through November.

I actually need to book my next trip….

Speaking of going back, I’m gonna put in for retirement visa soon. Completing the paperwork for one in Mauritius. I’m done. Living here isn’t good for a black man’s mental health. Living and dying overseas feels like a much healthier option
