lets be fair, he had only to approve the beats on illmatic if that and that was flawless. ever since thenall his LPs have some of the most suspect beats ever, there like Pacs 'whats ya phone number' at the end of AEOM. Nas is the GOAT to me but i already know his beats will be ass for the next record but now with his lazier approach to rhymes and delivery im not expecting much, will still listen.

Jay's got a great ear for beats, i at least give him that minus (BP3) he has a 75% accuracy rate while nas is well below 40%. All his other classic since illmatic have some questionable shyt, remember 'braveheart party' :russ: i might think nas might have a little ear infection for real, and salam reemi aint giving up the treatment.

The power of the internet. That shyt was started online and it's never a real topic in life. Just like nastradamus being the worst album of all time. It's the worst Nas album but Jay got shyt like bp2 and kingdom come all day. C'mon fam. That's just inconsistency. Everyone has duds and event those duds had some heaters.

Where are all these harsh cac critics for Eminem. They all call him the best rapper in y'all nikkaz faces all day. I've never heard running industry jokes about their cac king of rap even though he's got plenty of source material. Let's not forget the trash beats he made as a rapper and the blasphemy of exec producing a PAC album. :mjlol:

I think its a bit of a lazy hot take in Hip Hop to say that.

Even like a poorly produced Nas album will have a Nas is Like, Made You Look and Theif's Theme type record and about 4-5 strong album cuts and the rest of the album and the beats considered boring are like very kinda average beats, but not atrocious. I think its more a case of seeing guys like Jay-Z make a Black Album and Game make a Documentary album and these kind of all star factory made joints that still have a quality to them and then there's Nas making like God Son/Streets Disciple/Untitled type records with one or two main producers and more older "out of date" beats that suit his traditionalist style and it kinda feels good but boring to some people.
I dont think its bad its just not the beats of the time but that still fits Nas and that still sets him apart from the other guys who always work with the same producers.

I think that bad beats issue was kinda put to rest with Life is Good though. He didnt really change his formula on that but he just managed to get on the same page with Salaam and No ID and pick the beats that are still very much Nas but are like a compilation of like the best 2-3 beats from an average Nas album spread across a whole album and I think that's why its considered his best album in a few years.
As for how his next album goes, who knows. Him taking too much time and not being into it is troublesome but then again Kyambo "Hip Hop" Joshua is A&Ring and picking the tracks so that might help. The bigger issue on the next album might be what he feels like writing rather than the beats.

Conversely, Jay's been a dude who always was able to find a way to fit in with different types of beats and adjust his flow so that's why they dont sound wack even if they arent actually good beats at times. But with BP3 and MCHG it seems he seemed to be not as on point and on flow with the records. Its also a noticable thing in his recent collabos and why some people feel he's finally aged.

Ironically Nas sounded surprisingly good on the March Madness Remix and Nas Album Done and I would have never thought in 2016, Nas would be the one sounding better on modern beats like that so who knows
