Been boxing on and off for ten years since I was 16

I boxed for the police athletic league before I went to the navy and at an mma gym I wrestled at

Anyone else train?

I've been boxing on an off for a minute. I just started muay Thai in April. I plan on cross training them to improve my hands for muay Thai.

It's hard finding a gym in DC too many boxsercise classes and COVID killed all of the old school gyms.

I know it was a combination of many things. A lot of the old timers got priced out combined with COVID. There are still some gyms in Pg County in areas like Suitland, Temple Hills, Landover.

I trained from 11-16. Then off and on until 23. Started training again inconsistently a couple years ago then covid shut that down, didn’t start back up yet. Never competed though.

Yeah the Rent went up. In Northwest they had the House of Champions

and Impac Boxing in NE

Then there was the Old recreation gyms that were mainly boxing Gyms. I can't think of the name of that Rec center in SE that was a gym it even had a couple of contenders come out of there.

You get brain damage from training and light sparring, might as well compete

the brain damage is worse when you spar with headgear too, i want my kid to do at least one combat sport but it's gonna have to be something other than boxing or football
