The "shelter" was some dingy ass cabin behind the slave house unless you were a boot licking house c00n, the food was usually the ass end of the pig and other slop, and the job was picking cotton in humid ass southern heat while getting beat and treated as subhuman.

Nobody talkin about living in a damn homeless shelter and even if you unemployed, you at last have the freedom to go outside of the space of a fukkin plantation.

When you realize that really truly absolutely nothing was determined/laid out for you, it's like waking up in a lucid dream.
