As a black man, when someone is talking about crimes against humanity, the first images that come to my mind is the HOLOCAUST, instead of the on going atrocities my black people face WORLDWIDE since slavery.

Yep, definitely an american thing breh, because I remember not feeling that much solidarity for jews like that until I came to the US and had to learn little by little that you don't ever just mention jews without implying their struggle somehow. I knew of the holocaust but I wasn't trained to be personally empathetic to that moment in history, until I started being conditioned by this society to learn about the surreal jewish struggle and it's implications.
People don't like having conversations about Israel and Palestine like that either. Probably because no one wants to be looked at like an apologist for the horrors.
