I have the same type of dad. The key is to regulate visits and just pacify him.

My dad was like that. My dad spent his whole life being a bully, then life humbled him.

My earliest memory of my dad was him slapping another grown man in a people's club meeting and everybody just looking like "That's Dike-Isu"

He's still stern as hell, but that being angry all the time and bullying people shyt has passed.
