My mom is super religious. Every conversation she brings it back to religion


Late to work- "That's how it's gonna be when god shows up. People won't plan ahead and it'll be too late for them"

Get sick- "You need to pray to god to help you get rid of your sickness"

Car accident where some dumbass crashed into my girl with my boy in the car-"Thank God nobody got hurt" why did god get them involved in a car accident in the first place.


It used to annoy me cause I couldn't have a conversation without talking about God but now I found a new definition for God so it works out.

My family is a mixed bag. Mom is somewhat religious, still attends church every so often. My dad, he was the one that made me not want to go when I was younger "If dad isn't going, I'm not going " He hated that too cause sometimes my mom would guilt him into going.

My dad's mom is crazy religious, when you talk to her she always saying "You need to go to church.....You have to pray to god for this, for that, for the world, starving kids, etc." One day my dad snapped on her and was like "Mumma, enough already ! for over 50 years you've been telling me to pray, Have I ever told you not to pray ! I was like

My mom was on a religious kick when we were in 6th grade

her and her church friends came in our room and ripped all of our wrestling posters off of the damn wall

So yes, a lot of convos involve religion in my life. I'm used to it and actually have come to appreciate it. I don't get what's the big deal about religion to some of you.

Y'all act like going to church, paying tithes, praying, etc. is like getting a root canal. Not here to judge, just find it funny that's all.

And NO, my pops NEVER stole from the church or ever will...They aren't ballin, just hard working, humble, God-fearing people...

yeah my moma is, my pops wasnt all too much when they were still married. he cool about me not bein religious but that shyt is difficult/uncomfortable with my moms. i don't mind hearin "god is good" or whatever, i just hate gettin grilled about goin to church and believin. chill with that shyt

Yep, I was agnostic growing up. Thought because it was evil in the world that the devil was God. My moms went to church and me and my pops used to laugh at her. Paying "tithes" to the church. And all that. Well, the table turned when I turn 19 and some weird stuff start happening in my life. Next thing I know, I'm the one who turned religious. The same person who used to flame her for it.

It's strange because as religious as ma duke is, she knows about all da academic history of Christianity and most other religions. She knows about all da contradictions, da plotholes, da illogical aspects of em and their main books. And she's also a serious space/astrology/UFO junkie too. Incredibly smart... But yet she's still a devout Christian. Her faith in "god" is strong as shyt. And as much as i can't fukkin stand religion, she's a prime example of why i tend to back off from shyttin on it AS much as i know i could. Dat faith (whether I see it as a form of self hypnosis) can get people through some serious adversities in life.

People can believe in da 2 headed purple forest dragon gawdess for all i care. If it helps you get through your life and helps you be positive i'm all for it. Just keep dat shyt to yourself and dont try n convince others of it being FACT. Dat's where mah beef wit it will begin.

Plus i think, especially wit older folks(specially older black folks) dat shyt was just ingrained in em from such a young age and wit da kinda shyt dey had to deal wit (Segregation/Civil rights era,etc.)...da church/religion was a source of strength/refuge for a majority of em. So no matter how much i just when i'm gettin preached at i just charge it to da game n kim.
