Anyone else here grew up kite fighting or shooting marbles?

I know this mainly applies to immigrants and people overseas.

That was the shyt.

I remember during kite season you would go buy your bamboo sticks and papers to make your kite. Cut up newspapers for the tail. Put some glass into a sock to smash up the glass, then you would glue the glass shards on the kite string so it could cut other people's kites easier. Whole streets of kids would be chasing loose kites.

Great times.

Yea, in the US it's like that. Some of us grew up in the 3rd world before we came here so we didn't have access to technology. When I got here it was definitely a surprise.

Im young dude and if you were younger and were around spainsh ppl you shot marbles.

I remember a lil spanish kid tried to talk bad about to me to a spanish girl, right after he did that I played him in marbles and I took his loved clear marble which was his shooter. Dude turned red and cried infront of everybody.

I remember having marbles when I was younger. Think I had a kite at my grandparents house but not no fighting kite. I haven't seen a kite being flown in a while. Maybe i just haven't noticed lately.

he told me about Kite fights, they used to tie razors to the string to cut the other kite down.

Not marbles but I played congies (pronounced c00n-gies ) as a kid.

its funny, on the block a lot of us had like garbage bags filled with pogs and we'd sit on our porches for hours just looking through all of our pogs but we never once played an actual game.
