I feel the same way sometimes. I was looking at that 90s NYC thread and realized that it will never be the same. What made NYC so special has been stripped away due to gentrification. I'm sick of seeing these implants taking up space and dictating culture. I'm grateful that I grew up here and experienced the old New York, but it's hey day is over

At this point I'm just finna get my money and bounce in two years time from here.

I just recently put some bids in on some vacation properties on the cheap out of state in Colorado, Myrtle Beach, Florida and some other states and I'm gonna rent that out while to people while my wall street insurance money grows and grows and grows and grows...so atleast with that I'll be able to have spots to go if I want to get out of the city for a bit and an extra source of income cause lord knows you need that to survive here...it's only rich and poor...no inbetween. You're constantly spending money here even when you don't want to. There are so many distractions, after a while it does make you jaded. Plus the vapid hipsters, rich people, etc...it seems way too soulless nowadays.

I've just come to terms with the fact that if NYC is the pinnacle of what America has to offer, it really doesn't have anything to offer.

Hopefully with the money I make from this I can finally afford that dream vacation St.Croix I've been meaning to take and be able to afford a nice condo. REally that's why I love NYC...it's inspired me to be on my grind...in ways I never have.

NYC changed after 9/11, it aint the same...That vibe is gone. I been traveling most of my adult life but I always come back to this beautiful rat hole. I cant let go. If I get a craving for a Philly Cheese steak at 3 in the morning I can just go t the corner store and make that happen......I used to live in the burbs and u will not find a fresh hot philly cheese steak at 3 in the morning like u can in NYC.

You cant live in NY to appreciate NY. I live like a king with what im making but in NY i'd be struggling making the same amount.

Whats the point of having all this dope shyt to do if you cant afford to do it or you working all the time to keep your head above water.

It did teach me how to hustle and gave me that hunger. Not a lot of places that can truly do that though.

I'm good up here in the suburbs.
Commute to the city for work and come back to peace every evening.

:blessed:

Suckers from all over the world moving to Manhattan paying $1,800 a month to live with 3 roommates in a 700 sq foot apartment

Living and commuting from LI/Upstate/NJ/CT to the city with all that traffic :scusthov:

The outer boroughs aren't that bad in terms of rent.

...I think I'm ready for the burbs, subdivision somewhere, New York really isn't all that at the end of the day. Over crowded with immigrants and ethnic enclaves, crooked cops, overpriced housing, and gentrifying CACs, EVERYWHERE.
how bad has gentrification gotten there?

It's getting pretty bad but not as bad as most people make it out..

The worst case is Northern Brooklyn and slowly Harlem. And LIC in Queens is getting pretty gentrified too.

But outside of that, it's being too exaggerated but it's definitely present now.
Luckily The Heights, Inwood, and the BX are still pretty fine but that's already starting to change here.
