One of the best podcasts going, especially if you are interested in self improvement and opening your world up to new things

he basically takes the best people in their field and interviews/talks to them about what makes them tick and what got them to where they are

recently talked to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Adam Robinson (chess master), Ed Norton (the actor) and so many more. I mean the range is truly amazing of the kinds of guests he will talk to. From billionaires, to investors, to artists, to military strategists, to people from the digital/technology realm, philosophers, scientists, athletes, just all kinds of shyt. i really suggest everyone check it out. you're bound to find an episode that interests you

Yes.

If you want to get the jewels quicker, check out his latest book Tools Of Titans.

He basically took all his personal notes from every podcast interview and turned them into a book.

Real good game in it about building wealth, health and your mind.

If you can't afford the book, sign up to Scribd for their free 30 day trial and read it.

GOAT episode? any rappers?

ahh man i can't even think of a GOAT episode, there's been so many good ones. no rappers that i know of though.

actually this one really stands out in my mind:

The Scariest Navy SEAL Imaginable…And What He Taught Me

"
Jocko Willink (@jockowillink) is one of the scariest human beings imaginable.

He is a lean 230 pounds. He is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu expert who used to tap out 20 Navy SEALs per workout. He is a legend in the Special Operations world. His eyes look through you more than at you.

He rarely does interviews, if ever. But, a few weeks ago, Jocko ended up staying at my house and we had a caffeinated mind meld. Here’s some background…

Jocko enlisted in the Navy after high school and spent 20 years in the SEAL Teams, first as an enlisted SEAL operator and then as a SEAL officer. During his second tour in Iraq, he led SEAL Task Unit Bruiser in the Battle of Ramadi — some of the toughest and most sustained combat by the SEAL Teams since Vietnam.

Under his leadership, Task Unit Bruiser became the most highly decorated Special Operations Unit of the entire war in Iraq and helped bring stability to Ramadi. Jocko was awarded the Bronze Star and a Silver Star.

Upon returning to the United States, Jocko served as the Officer-in-Charge of training for all West Coast SEAL Teams, designing and implementing some of the most challenging and realistic combat training in the world.

So why is Jocko opening up? Well, in part, we have mutual friends. Second, he is the co-author of an incredible new book — Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win — which I’ve been loving. Trust me. Buy it.

This is his first mainstream interview and one you won’t want to miss."

another good one:

I always have this feeling like these self-help/philosophical bloggers/podcasters are 90% full of shyt and practice or peddle some sort of phony ideas and advice.
That whole Natural News/Joe Rogan/Joe Mercola bullshyt where they swear that downing 15 fish oil pills is totally fine, and raw milk is perfectly normal and shyt. Basically pseudo science.

And not to put Tim Ferriss on that level but I'm just saying there's a bit of a skeptical feeling about people like him and I'm wary of some of the claims people like him can sometimes make. He's one of those guys that came out of nowhere and seemingly hasn't achieved anything other than telling people what to do.

That said, there seems to be something to some of the self-improvement tactics he discusses.

Last week I watched that Netflix documentary on Tony Robbins "I Am Not Your Guru" and while I'd never go to some shyt like that and sometimes Tony seems full of hot air...there is something to the way he gets people to question themselves to cut through bullshyt which does seem to help people make tough decisions and change their lives. Ferriss seems to be headed down that Robbins path as "the self improvement guy"

Whether it actually works and is rooted in real science....
Well...

You should read the 4 Hour Work Week.

Timmy been around over a decade.

And got rich before he wrote his first book unlike most "self improvement gurus".

He's nothing like Robbins by the way lol. Weird comparison.

He's a kid from East Hampton who was probably well off to begin with and started by selling supplements with questionable claims 20 years ago.

Now he's got books and a podcast talking about investments and habits for success.
Is it Tony Robbins? Not exactly. But it sounds similar in the sense that you've got a guy preaching to people about what it takes to be successful and the science behind some of the claims are largely duck tales.

Hell, the 4 Hour Work Week isn't even for Tim Ferriss. Why the hell would it be for anyone else?

And yes, I can already hear the retorts: but it's about a lifestyle redesign...
Alright. I get it. He's just talking in broad terms about ways to improve your life. So again, quite reminiscent of other self-help/philosophy gurus...kinda like (but not exactly like) Robbins.

Lol that's funny because he's had Tony Robbins on the podcast before. I'd say Tim ferriss shyt is far from psuedo science IMO. More along the lines of common sense I feel

If he's a phony, he sure has a ton of successful (legit) people on his podcast who work with him.

But I get it too.

A successful person like him will always be criticized. A lot of people don't like the information and advice Ferriss gives.

Whether it's Ferriss, Tariq Nasheed or "insert successful person in the spotlight", people will always question their success and whether they are legit or not. Especially if how they became successful, doesn't seem attainable or realistic to them.
