Anyone else mentally checked out of work?

A former colleague just came down and visited me after transferring departments and I'm already getting that itch in here to make a move. I just need a change of scenery. The grass being greener on the other side is always a kaleidoscope though. But I am kind of checked out as far as work goes. I can't really start using any vacation time for another month or so.

I haven't checked in. I'm still new, but it's not what I expected at all. I'm basically keeping busy all day to the point when I'm asked to do work I get irritated because I'm interrupting the shyt I found to do. I can do my school work though so i'm going to start doing that. Gives me more free time at home.

Hard part about a vacation though is that you feel "alive" and then going back to work is even more unbearable afterward

Once you mentally check out of anything there is no going back. The days only get longer, more frustrating and soul crushing the longer you stay in it Living for the weekend or vacation fix, most of the time what you really need is a new job and/or to spend more time charting a path to get you out of the rat race.

only on the days where my time is taken up in meetings then actual work time....like today

5 meetings today where my only hour of non meeting time was taken up by lunch and doing emails..its 330...im not starting anything significant today...its all going to be minor things
