I actually love those alte artists and what pa salieu does with his fusion. It's just the overall imagery of afrobeats that i don't love along with the repetitiveness in the mainstream. Burna boy is also falling into this, and he was my favorite artists from 2012-2018. Afrobeats now sounds like pop music made for export for the western market, and not in a good way.

You’re actually not the first person to complain about this. My cousins in Nigeria also not a fan of the current of afro beats. Wizkid droppp his album and they called it hot Dudu. But this was bound to happen they constantly seek western approval instead to widen their audience instead of them trying hone in on what already got them famous.

My favorite wizkid song is caro but I promise a majority of the coli only know him through closer and one dance with his drakes feature

I only enjoy it when it dont sound the same. That and amapiano. Too many people using same style beat. The dj has to have a good ear for mixing in the jazzy joints, soulful joints and they all have a different sound.

Generic? Repetitive? The same can be said about American music.

Reggaeton or whatever is African music.

If you listen to the old African music, like 1950,1960 it’s called Rumba. Same sound. Instruments, whatever. Goodnight
