Some of these guys got a lot of tracks sitting in the vault....i dont see it as a problem releasing some of these tracks free to fans until you complete your next project...it keeps u buzzing and gives you time to perfect your next album
you know what, if a rapper want to throw out a teaser here and there. Go ahead. he wants to leak a song that will probably be an album cut from his album sure. Some of these guys got a lot of tracks sitting in the vault....i dont see it as a problem releasing some of these tracks free to fans until you complete your next project...it keeps u buzzing and gives you time to perfect your next album

but to just release full mixtapes, and throway songs constantly is actually DEVALUING yourself as an artist.
there is a point in this game where you will actually oversaturate the market and play yourself out.
Rappers/artists used to be able to tour for a full year or more based off of one album.
But here is the funniest part. Everyone saying they ain't making money from song sales or albums sales and shyt. then why would these rappers keep dropping random songs. I mean Future JUST came off 1 1/2 albums released in what 7-8 months?
and now he's throwing out anohter mixtape? naw. You gotta let your music simmer though. You are making your OWN music forgettable by constantly putting out new shyt. And when that new shyt isn't even quality then you gonna lose more fans in that process.
It's called the spaghetti to the wall strategy. Eventually one will stick. Popularized by no limit and dipset in the early 2000's.
One would say "the pioneers of trash rap". All makes sense now![]()
You said it. Not me.
When you break down a lot of these discographies now you'll realize that you only like about 1/3rd of the music they dropped but you'll meet someone who likes a completely different 1/3rd of their discography.
I honestly don't see it working for the majority of ppl though.but if you make forgettable music to begin with, the best way to stay relevant is flood the streets. These guys aren't doing this out of stupidity. They're doing it because it has worked countless times with follower-type hip hop fans.
