I have been doing this shyt for well over a decade, but I use these shyts religously to manage money. and that's even with the advent of apps and mint to assist.

When I was 15, my pops got me a checking account and showed me how to reconcile it every month. he's an accountant by trade, so that's his thing. so I guess I kinda picked up some good habits. as I stopped using checks, I transitioned to using spreadsheets with my debit cards to make sure everything was on the up and up.

When I first met the wife, she used to make fun cuz of this, but I eventually got her using spreadsheets to track her finances as well.

And my brother in law made fun of my sister for this as well. But she runs their household and took hold of ALL his spending and cut him off certain things that were very wasteful. Hell, I didnt know she used spreadsheets heavy like I did, but she's also an accountant by trade like my old man, so I guess it only makes sense.

I'm not anything close to an accountant, but I have always been fiscally responsible, so I guess I was destined to be doing this stuff.

I use mint.com. Way more automatic.

mint is dope, but I need the interaction of putting the actual transactions in. That being said, I do have my entire budget set up in mint as well.

plus mint is always asking me to re-enter info for some of my accounts which is SUPER annoying cuz it will lose connectivity when some banks change their security.

I use excel, never heard of mint.com

Put me on game :ehh:

mint is a website/app that lets u put in all ur bank accounts/brokerage accounts/real estate/cars and property and anything else related to money and give u and overview of your net worth, spending and budgets. you can set up a budget in there and everything and it'll track ur spending each month and tell u if you're in the red or black. dope as fukk, and I highly recommend.

I use over-draft notices to keep track of my money.

:snoop:

I'm gonna put it this way. a lot of people I know think some kinda of way cuz of where I live and what not, but I am EXTREMELY liquid, and my kids are well taken care of and go to a GREAT school.

basically, I can kinda do whatever the hell I want, despite outter appearances that might suggest otherwise.

That's the way to go, breh.

I'm the same way.

Would never know I've got $xxx, xxx.xx in the bank accounts by the way I dress, talk, or carry myself.

Smart money moves in silence.

I use excel to keep track of my bills and how much debt I have and even the apr rate for my loans. But I always check my bank account to make sure everything is good.

I'm going to check out mint
