Anyone ever get calls from scammers acting like your family member in trouble?

No joke and this has nothing to do with race but a person just called me from a number in Mexico trying to act like they were my mom and they were in trouble and they were fake crying. They also some how knew my name.

I could tell this person was of the Latin race so I said how can you be my mom when you sound like a Mexican woman. Then they dropped the phoney crying and female voice and it turned out to be a man and called me a red neck, when I'm from Philly.

I've heard of these scams but I never got a call like this before it was so weird.

Anyone else experience this or have someone they know?

I tried calling the number back but it didn't work.

i never answer my phone if i don't recognize the number and i would usually call back that number and it would say number no longer in service

I got one from an India lady in Florida...accent was stronger than Jay Leno's chin

"Hello...I am calling you from the Credit Card company"

"Which one?"

"Your credit card sir is in danger...can I have you verify the number"

"Yes..." "it's 9999-9999"

She switched up her tone real quick

"We already have your information sir"

and she hung up

Mexican dude at my job had this happen to him, pretended to be his cousin, said he was on the phone for 30 mins but they got a name wrong and hung up.

Somebody got my brother like that and said some shyt like my older brother hit their car..so they were making sounds like they were beating him

My lil brother tried messaging my brother but he was at work and couldn't use his phone, so my brother got scared and they asked for like 2k and wanted him to send it thru western union , so my brother was about to do it until the people on the phone couldn't tell him what my brother name was,and like 5 min later my older brother checked his phone and replied back and told my brother he is ok

So now my brother realized it was a scam so he was just talking to them to see how far they would take it and next thing you know they said they was about to shoot him and he heard a loud gun shot sound
