You obviously wont become rich but black folks love having a fresh cut that most folks cant replicate by cutting their own hair. If you hustle hard enough can you live "comfortably"?

if you hustle hard enough you can gain serious wealth, but the black barber is such an underrated individual in the community...they are essential to our community and deserved to be appreciated more

Some barbers that I know do very well. The trouble is in the consistency in building up a client base. If you're new to cutting hair, or new to an area, you won't be having tons of people dying to sit in your chair right away.
I've never wanted to be a barber myself, but I think some things that people go to barbers for (shape up, beard trimming, etc) can be learned and done at home, saving them money.

Just as a side comment: Moving away or going to college and having to find a new barber was, surprisingly, one of the more stressful things I've had to deal with.

I live in a very lower class urban area so you have the black customers and the people of other races who rock black cuts. The barbers with skills are always busy. If I become known in the area for having skills thats 2-3 heads per hour which could be like $60 a hour. Obviously there will be slow days but I really think I can make bank if I dedicate myself to the craft. The only shytty thing is barber college cost around $10,000-$14,000 out here so I would need a loan :patrice:

If you cut an established shop, you can do well as barber. Plus some barbers cut outside the shop, having people stop by their crib. If you get really good at cutting, you will be straight. My old barber was a beast, but I stopped going to him...he was too damn busy. Dude would turn customers away all the time. He owned his own shop and he traveled to other cities promoting his barber magazine.

If you a good barber your clientele will build up and you can pull 6 figures tax free cutting hair, if you not good :birdman:
