This is exactly how I felt when I first heard this song... eventually I came across another song (4u/Lately) from the same project that also really impressed me, so I decided to check out the tape and I was extremely impressed.

I recommend checking it out if you liked this song. It's called BeFor Our Time. The first three tracks leading up to Polaroids also is such a great progression.

I liked BeFOR Our Time, and was excited for Beautiful Mercy, but his Kendrick Lamar flow, cadence, and voice jacking went a little too far for me on that project.

Just take the intro for example:



There are one or two tracks on that project that leave the Kendrick shyt behind and are pretty good, but too often he leans on the knock-off Kendrick shyt, and it's unlistenable and cringeworthy.
