It costs $550 a year, which I think is a little high to use a damn credit card. But the perks are :banderas:

My boy has one and said it's worth but I'd like to hear from other folks who have one.

I got the Gold Premier. Its better for everyday use but the Platinum cant be beat if you are doing a ton of trips a yr.

End thread...

Plat only good if u traveling a ton and can use it for tickets etc.

Gold premier is a much better deal fornpoints/extra signers etc.

I have Gold Premier. Had plat for a yr and switched bak.

Amex basically gives you the first year of platinum ownership for free when you factor in the sign-up bonus. if you don't like it after a year, you can simply call them and downgrade to a lower tier Amex.

you really don't have to travel a lot either, since platinum gives you 5x points for each hotel stay & flight, plus up to $200 in airline fee reimbursements. take just one or two trips a year, and this will cut significantly into that $550.

additionally you get a $200 annual Uber credit (that can even be used for Uber Eats).

when you consider all of the benefits, even without much travel, the platinum card has basically the same annual cost as the gold premier rewards (in many cases it costs less).

Amex just limited their VIP lounge to just Platinum members; otherwise I would just get the gold premier

well it's too late now....the Platinum card is being mailed to me as we speak

Gold Premier gives 3X for Travel 2X for Groceries and Gas (something we do weekly), IMO those alone give it an edge. Main thing I would like the Platinum for is Lounge access.

ehh.. i wouldn't recommend any Amex charge card for daily use. the Blue Cash Preferred card trumps all of them in terms of grocery/gas rewards & annual fee. i get your point tho

The Travel + Other perks on the Gold make it the best all around card. If you dont spend a ton of money or travel then I guess the Blue Cash gets the job done.

I travel a decent amount plus enjoy the things like Roadside assistance, extended warranty, etc etc etc

i wasn't suggesting either-or, i own both the Platinum and BCP card and enjoy their respective benefits.

my point was simply that Amex charge cards are not the best option for daily use in terms of rewards/cash back.

Unless you travel a ton and or your job or covers the annual fee you are looking at like 600 bucks annually. The Gold Premier Rewards is the perfect middle ground without the need for two cards imo

i already gave the breakdown on how my platinum basically pays for itself; additionally i get 6% cash back on groceries and 3% cash for gas with the BCP. the Gold Premier doesn't come close to matching that.

i don't travel a ton and the benefits & cash back i receive is still easily worth more than $600 annually. but i'll let you have it.
