I always wondered if i should start seeing one. My reason is because i go to the doctor, dentist, eye doctor all twice a year so my physical health is straight. But i feel like people should see a doctor for mental health as well or they might go crazy.

Anybody can give me insight on how this works? Expense, etc...

If you're willing to put money into it, do it. Just acknowledge that it will take a few sessions to get comfortable with one another, and a few months before you have your first break through. I have issues with the racial make up of most practices though. I saw a therapist briefly and decided to stop after a while: he was a cac who I had to constantly explain shyt to because there were things he was limited to/just didn't get bc of his privilege.

If you are planning to see a therapist, choose one that you feel comfortable with. Ask a lot of questions about their theoretics orientation, their experience with Blacks (if this is important to you), a timeline for when you might see symptom decrease. It will also benefit you in leaning about some of the theories of therapy to see which one fits your style of thinking and behavior. For instance, there are researched and manualized cognitive behavioral therapies (cbt) for disorders like depression, anxiety, anger. There are also more psychodynamic therapies which are less directed and delve more into insight. I think it is an area of health that Black people are lacking in using. I commend you on your bravery.

Yeah I am a therapist, soon to be Psychologist. And lol, I wasn't saying you were suffering from major depressive disorder, I was commending you on getting help. I guess you aren't used to compliments on proactive behavior.
