What's your usual recipe?

I've only eaten macaroni and cheese one time in my life cause I thought it was some cac shyt. The Kraft shyt.

So whenever I've seen it I've assumed it was a cac dish with or without the box.

I made a 4 cheese roux and put it over some al dente shells and put real breadcrumbs from bread in a food processor on top and put it in the oven.

It was fine :yeshrug: crispy on top, good sauce, noodles were noodles. It was the first and only time I've ever had macaroni, I never looked up any recipes. Where does an egg go? And I guess what does it do for the flavor or consistency?
You thought soul food was cac shyt?

Yes, you can make mac and cheese without egg, particularly if you're making it on the stovetop.

All you need is shredded cheeses of your liking, milk, butter, appropriate seasonings, and a roux (flour and butter) to thicken it and make it creamy 🤷🏾‍♀️.

I’m amazed this got bumped, and I’ve always seen my mom use eggs, and the Patti Labelle recipe uses eggs, and I still use an egg to hold it together and make it fluffy. I whip it, and add it.

Funny that this thread got bumped. There's a soul food restaurant I've been going to for years. The og black owner died suddenly a few years back and the rest of the black employees bought it out and kept it running had some of their mac and cheese and that shyt is banging. Greens on point too. I've still not had the Kraft shyt or instant. I only made it once and that was good enough for me.
