To what degree did you get rid of shyt? (I’m having a hard time getting rid of my coffee maker).

How did you not become physically attached to dumb shyt (Like Jordan’s you can’t wear ) that really don’t serve a purpose?

Do you also practice minimalism at work?

Well...I done such things for the past years of my life. Everytime I moved, I would get rid of majority of the things I really don't need, sell some of my belongings, and give away furniture and etc. It got to the point where the only thing that matters in my life is my laptop, my family, and my mind. Everything else is just a temporary bonus. I always looked at material like something that is temporary, but sometimes I have a connection to it. Especially my own record collection. Yet, once I realize that these items were weighing me down in the process of my growth, it became apparent that I needed to reevaluate my stance in life.

If you really want to understand the purpose of minimalism, I suggest reading this book:

It's a really thought provoking book and help me in the process of my constant moving. Once you realize that these personal belongings are just mere objects, you will see that you are on the perfect path of peace of mind. Babysteps though, but I would look at the stuff that you have and do a ranking system to narrow down the one thing you could careless about. Get rid of it and see how you do in the process.

Yes. There is an attachment that we develop with our belongings that is rooted in different causes; sentimental, emotional, insecurity.

My policy is if I haven't used it in one year, then it should go. If you can't sell it, donate it.

Do you also use thrifted items to keep the cycle going, or buy new?

it’s wild you mention your laptop. I read this article about people applying minimalism to streaming subscriptions. And this one guy that went the extreme minimal life even got rid of e-mail.

I’m definitely weighting the wants vs needs. Thanks, breh

Yes I do. If I can't find what I'm looking for in my local thrift shops, craigslist, or ebay; then I buy new.

I try to recycle everything. I'm using my oatmeal containers as seed starters right now.

No problem breh:ehh:.

Thats the gift of subscription services. You soon realize that them jawns are actually a gateway to minimalism. Once you realize that these mere items can't come with you to the grave, the more it become clear that you don't really need a lot of things to keep you occupied. Overkill amounts of material ends up causing anxiety. It actually happened to me when I was legit having the "time of my life" financially. Once it was clear that everything I ever desire is in the form of a laptop, along with just the needs outweighing the wants (clothes, shoes, soap, food, etc). You can actually practice such technique with ease. But its all babysteps breh.

Good luck in the process of understanding self :wow:

Installed Tabliss (Tabliss · A beautiful New Tab page) for a streamlined minimal feel for every new tab on my computer :leon:

Just found out that you can leverage 'Collections' in Unsplash to have a constantly changing background that has a theme you decide on.

For example, it can cycle through curated photos related to Minimalism to Africa to Playstation to whatever you can think of.

LPT: When you want to use a collection in Unsplash, use the unique identifier in the collection's web address. Typically it'll be a string of #s, but sometimes it's a string of letters too IIRC.
