tbh Gamefreak knows that people especially kids will still buy the game no matter what. However i see where the people are coming from that had major complaints about the game after what we saw with breath of the wild i think the expectation was set to high for a mainline pokemon game making the jump on a console such as the switch

Its one of those cases where nothing will happen until they take a hit. I have my reservations for the one trick pony that Game Freak is, but I still bought the game as I figured it would be a nice bit of nostalgia.
I am liking it so far, but I do agree that they can do a LOT more with the franchise. Certain elements (the battle system mainly IMO) are pretty stale.

Difference btw BOTW and Pokemon is LOZ always been a console game, so it (BOTW) being on the Switch wasn’t a big deal it was expected. The game itself was the huge leap. From what I’m gathering (haven’t played Pokemon since Gold, and don’t really care enough to cop this one without glowing reviews), they just put a shined-up normal portable Pokemon game on the big console

I personally was thinking they were gonna make a BOTW type leap in the core philosophy, and because this would be the first mainline game on console it would at least make that kinda leap on top of it.

Nintendo kinda disappointed me this yr I think I’ve bought 2 games this yr, 1 of which was a port (Hotline Miami), and haven’t even turned the Switch on in months.

But I expected it after how they came out the gate. Just gotta reload

Kids will buy mostly anything especially Pokemon. The backlash was because they’re asking $60 for a game that should really be $30 with the amount of cut content.
