It wasn't. Denver had the best offer but was contingent on PG extension and he said hes not interested. He is going to LA. Atlanta probably was doing this just to resign Sap

But that's the risk these owners run putting the future of their franchises in the hands of guys who know their jobs have a shelf life.

One title in some of these franchise means a lot bruh
Hawks never won an nba title neither have the nuggets or kings or pelicans. All these lower tier franchises would be dying to be a title contender let alone a champion
