REally no need for a big label with how social media is unless you getting a crazy amount of money on some Drake/Wayne shyt..

better to sign to a management company like say QC The Label type of deal and eat off club touring and youtube/streaming

Pretty much, and if you are smart do it yourself. Drop free music and or just put an album straight on iTunes, shoot vids out of pocket and put on youtube/world star and make all your money off of touring, and investing that money into other revenue streams.

Think about underground cats who are "chiterling circuit" status. Dudes can do 3-4 shows a week, especially during HBCU homecoming season. So say you do 3 shows a week and charge 3k a show, thats 9k a week @ 52 weeks a yr you are making 468k a yr which is a lot of money when you are your own boss and dont have a bunch of clowns in your pockets. You can take 100k off of that to handle admin stuff such as transportation and shooting your videos, and still be good. Keep in mind 3k aint ish, if you have a hot single you can ask for 10k easy.

I was trying to hold out for Deezer but if Apple's catalog is big enough and I can transfer my playlists over from Spotify with no hassle I'll cancel my subscription

I bring this up all the time, Gucci Mane one of the smartest/biggest hustlers in the game. $10k a show, multiple times a week and has multiple songs people want to hear/come out for. Plus features when he goes from city to city..

Smart, cause $10k a show, multiple times a week + thousands per feature adds up QUICK over a year.

While you have DUMBASSES like ILoveMakonnen asking for $25k on a WEEK DAY party and he only had 1 song people woulda came out for :camby: thats why they struggle to find shows until they lower their booking fees to more realistic pricing.

yup, Gucci& Boosie would EAT during HBCU homecoming seasons, doing 2-3 homecomings a week ON TOP of hitting the hood clubs after the homecoming shows, so probably making 40-50k+ a week for 3 months = 480-600k. So we look at dudes like Plies and think they are broke when they are probably netting 4-700k a yr on the low end while these young dumb rappers signing deals for 1 mill but have a ton of hands in their pot and the stress of having to have good sales. Gucci can drop an album that sells 20k but tour from the same album and make a killing. Coach K and QC have a chance to get on some Master P steeze by just doing the Admin work for indy rappers.

nothing will be exclusive, 50 cent already explained this with all this streaming shyt

if u are signed to a major or indie, their main objective is to make money, you think they gonna close a few avenues down and only use 1? u must be mad, they will use all
it,s all gonna depend on if apple has enough juice to corner the market and how much they're willing to pay (and for how long) to crush the competition. the main thing is all these exclusive interviews and performances seem irrelevant with Youtube still in the game UNLESS they actually apply legal pressure on Youtube/Google to take it off their site. this could be some clash of the titans shyt but ultimately, i feel what you're saying about artists being in a funny position with all of this.

The only service I know that allows you to transfer over easily is from Spotify to Tidal. I don't know about Deezer. But I was looking into this when I had everything up on Google Play.
