Apple could’ve stopped the green text bullshyt 10 years ago…but they felt if they gave up blue texts they’d have almost nothing over Google. The blue text for iPhones only is because Apple would rather you buy their expensive ass phones for it…

Got a huge portion of Gen Z talking about the horrors of capitalism and wealth inequality as they go on social media and play corporate cheerleader for a company known for its prohibitively expensive hardware, staunchly against the right to repair, and have almost a 3 TRLLION dollar market cap.

Why? By not taking a step down from their service to a unsecure shyt service?
Especially when there’s a dozen apps that allows non apple users and apple users to communicate. Like I ain’t got no issues in a group chat with my friends that don’t have apple on whatsapp or messenger
Oh sure we fools :dead: man :camby:

apple uses the colors as a marketing strategy to make stupid people feel a childish sense "other-ing" and tribalism. The fact that they have to resort to that. instead of you know, letting the tech speak for itself is telling.

my mind is blown that the majority of the population is that stupid to succumb to it; however this is a world where 80% of it still believes in angels and wise men in the sky

Samsung joins Google in RCS shaming Apple

/

Samsung has released a new video in support of Google’s #GetTheMessage campaign which calls for Apple to adopt RCS or “Rich Communication Services,” the cross-platform protocol pitched as a successor to SMS that adopts many of the features found in modern messaging apps... like Apple’s own iMessage.

The video, titled “Green bubbles and blue bubbles want to be together,” shows a Romeo and Juliet-style conversation between two users who want to be together, but who are kept apart by one of their “parents.”
“What did green ever do to them? We’re bubbles too,” one of them asks.

The “bubbles,” of course, are a reference to Apple’s iMessage interface which shows feature-rich blue bubbles for messages sent between Apple users, and discordant green SMS bubbles with reduced functionality when Android users participate in the chat. This two-class system is especially frustrating in countries like the US where about half the population is using an iPhone and the other half is running Android on a Samsung device.

Apple, of course, has every incentive keep the status quo as a form of ecosystem lock-in, but it might be forced to open up its messaging service as a result of the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). Regulators are currently investigating whether iMessage meets the bar to be considered a “core platform service” under the rules, which would compel Apple to offer interoperability with other messaging services.
