How does the Facebook widget keep your timeline updated it doesn't use a persistent connection?

Sigh really. You google "any phone name" to extend battery and they tell you to off turn wi-fi, bluetooth this and that etc. Widgets on android do not update in real time unless its in actual use!!!!!! Other than that it updates at preset time intervals you set. It usually happens when you unlock your phone so it gives you the impression its up to date.

• Limited widgets on homescreen – Widgets use battery and ram so the lesser or no widgets at all will save up your battery, but then the widgets are the most appealing and useful feature of android, i cant imagine using my phone without them.

They hate it because yall dont have it natively.

ive been fukking with android since day1...gone thru every version that existed plus some roms. if i wanted an android feature natively id still have an android device smh

Just like anything else in life only use the widgets your will use. So if have a 25 widgets on its various screens that going over board. In the era of phones with 2-3GB of ram its not a big deal like it use to be back when we had 512mb or less of ram. Plus not all widgets use data or don't use anymore data than the app does. For example a text message widget don't use any data at all, a calendar widget uses the same data you phone syncs with anyway. You have to know how it all works.

Regarding widgets: widgets that constantly update will obviously drain your battery.

The widgets I use do not. I don't get the point of Facebook/Twitter/Instagram widgets....just go to the freaking app. I think they even have apps now that will put all your social media in one place...so just go to that app.

The widgets I use perform tasks....toggle Wi-Fi, toggle hotspot, toggle led flashlight, etc. The only updating widget I use is a weather widget. I set that to update something like every four hours, cuz that level of granularity is more than enough
